Town of Kernersville Fire Station #26 Renovation

Kernersville, NC | 12,100 SF

The Town of Kernersville is renovating an existing fire station to accommodate additional personnel in order to increase emergency response staff and provide enhanced response times due to the growing population.

The existing 7,000 square foot facility will be renovated to house a new half truck bay, dedicated turn out gear and decontamination areas, a fitness room and a training room that will also be used as a flexible community space. The existing pull-through, three bay apparatus space will remain and receive finish upgrades. The addition is planned to be approximately 5,100 square feet and will feature new sleeping quarters for staff, as well as additional storage or flex space that can be converted to additional bunks in the future as needed. Also in the new build will be a fully functional kitchen, day room, radio room, offices, shower and restrooms, laundry, and core utility and support spaces for the all new building systems. The exterior finishes will be primarily brick with board and batten accents to complement the existing structure. An exterior grilling patio, a covered arcade, and window shades will also be featured on the three sides of the addition.
