Creech & Associates was engaged to design a new general store within Union County’s Cane Creek Park.

The project replaces the park’s aging general store with a 1,400-square-foot facility designed to reflect the rustic charm of a campsite setting while meeting modern durability and maintenance needs. The building program includes a retail area with a sales counter, a restroom, an office, and storage space.

Finishes are selected for long-term wear resistance and ease of cleaning, and the design integrates seamlessly into the park’s natural surroundings. The project scope encompassed schematic design (including multiple plan and elevation options), full construction documentation per NC Building Code and Union County requirements, bidding assistance, and construction administration. Coordination extended to Union County’s IT and security vendors to ensure operational readiness.

The work plan followed a clear schedule—one month for schematic design, two months for
construction documentation, two months for bidding, and an eight-month construction phase
with bi-monthly site visits and meetings.
